A pub with a long history, community at its heart and a place for everyone.
Right in the heart of historic Morpeth, we’re a little bit old-school and a little bit unexpected. Come for a cold beer, a good meal, a catch-up with friends or simply to enjoy the view.
For thousands of years before Morpeth was a town, this was Wonnarua Country — a place of deep connection, culture and story along the coquun/Hunter River.
Whether you’re a local, a visitor, young or old, popping in for lunch or staying for a while — you are welcome here.
There’s our classic Bistro, open seven days a week, the much-loved Miss Mullens Bar on the verandah, and our very own micro-brewery right here in the pub.
BAR
We like our bar to have something for everyone.
There’s plenty of local and specialty beer on tap, including Morpeth Brewery beers brewed right here.
Our wine list is packed with cracking drops, with a particular love for the many wonderful vineyards of the Hunter Valley.
Prefer something shaken, stirred or alcohol-free? We’ve got classic cocktails, plus a good selection of non-alcoholic wines and beers.
Pull up a stool, grab a table and settle in…

BISTRO
Classic pub food, done our way.
Open 7 days for lunch and dinner, our Bistro is all about the food you want to eat at a good country pub.
Think classic pub favourites, generous plates and plenty of flavour, with local vegetables used wherever we can.
And to keep things interesting, there’s always a daily specials board with something new to tempt you.
BEER GARDEN
Sunshine, shade & a cold one. There’s nowhere quite like our beer garden.
Enjoy the fresh air, soak up the sunshine or find yourself a shady spot beneath our magnificent old Fig Trees.
It’s the perfect place for a lazy afternoon, a long lunch or a drink with friends.
And yes — dogs are welcome too.
Come upstairs, grab a drink and take in the view.
Miss Mullens Bar
From the verandah you have an extraordinary view of the Hunter River, Morpeth Bridge and the Barrington Mountains beyond.
Named after Miss Julia Mullens, the first female licensee of the hotel in the 1800s, as we figure she must have been a pretty gutsy woman, and we love the idea of carrying that spirit forward.
Also available for private functions.
Beer brewed right here at the pub.
Morpeth Brewery
Established in 2012, Morpeth Brewery is our very own on-site micro-brewery, producing traditional beers that are naturally carbonated and free from preservatives.
You’ll find at least four Morpeth Brewery beers on tap, from our much-loved staples to seasonal and specialty brews.
And our brewer, Dave Allen, knows his way around a beer.
He’s often about for a chat, so if you see him, say hello. Or, if you’re curious about what goes into making the beer in your glass, peer through the brewery’s glass viewing panel and you might catch the master at work.
Brewed here. Served here. Enjoyed here.
